Useful learning, deliberate sharing and clear limits. Here is the approach shaping Darb Family as it develops.
01 / Room to be yourself
Sharing should be a choice.
Adults’ personal activity is private unless they deliberately share it. A child’s detailed progress is for the child and their authorised guardians, not every household member.
Information
Intended visibility
Adult personal activity
The adult, unless deliberately shared
Shared routines
The chosen audience and participants
Child learning detail
The child and authorised guardians
Child tutor history
The child and authorised guardians, for 90 days
Household membership, administration and payment do not create guardianship. The final policy for establishing and managing guardianship is still being developed.
This explains the intended product approach. It is not the final privacy notice, which must be available before personal data is collected.
02 / Know what you’re learning from
Sources and review, made visible.
Content should identify where it comes from, its usage rights and its review status. Relevant differences between Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi‘i and Hanbali approaches should be attributed clearly.
Some openly licensed, attributed source text may be labelled “Not yet reviewed”. That is different from reviewed content. The planned tutor can draw only from reviewed material.
Reading and listening are planned alongside reviewed meanings and revision plans for shared Qur’an learning. Automated recitation assessment is not part of this product’s planned launch.
03 / Questions, with limits
A learning tool. Clear boundaries.
A restricted, guardian-enabled tutor is planned for typed questions about the reviewed learning library. It needs an internet connection and is not available publicly yet.
It is not a companion or a fatwa service.
Generated answers can be wrong. A reviewed source does not mean each generated answer has been individually reviewed. Responses should identify their sources and acknowledge when the library cannot answer.
Children should know who can see their questions.
The child and authorised guardians will be able to see the child’s full tutor history for 90 days. That must be explained before use. Provider selection and safeguards are still being resolved.
Adults stay in control of planning.
Assistance with weekly plans is also planned. Suggestions must be reviewed by the adult before being saved; they do not silently change a family’s calendar.
04 / Where things stand
In development. Not publicly available yet.
Darb Family is being developed for iPhone, Android and desktop web, with English first. No public release date has been announced.
A free core and a paid Family plan are planned; see the planned pricing, which may change before launch. Darb Family is also planned for Darb One, Darb Labs’ membership; it is not available yet.
Downloaded lessons and audio, saved routines and calendar items, and recorded progress are planned to support offline use. The tutor will remain online only.
